This captivating story is about “Freeborn”. This truth rules the life of a young half-elf boy named Freeborn. His sole friend is Tishamon, an elven woodsman, who frequently visits the boy. Tishamon adopts Freeborn, taking the boy along on his life of wandering, working and learning. When Tishamon becomes lamed, he settles in the Fire Hills and sends Freeborn to the local academy. The Fire Elves’ obsession with family lineage, and Freeborn’s contempt for the same, ends in violence, starting Freeborn on the trail to ever greater adventure.

About Author
Steven Calkum
Steven Calkum grew up on a small reach in East Central Colorado. He is a graduate of Colorado State University with Bachelor’s in Range Management and a Master’s in Agriculture. His education, plus working in the natural resources management field required extensive technical writing that served to hone his writing skills. Disability retirement due to health issues in 2014 has given him the time to pursue writing more seriously. Steven has completed the rough drafts of the first two sequels to Freeborn and has other writing projects in the works.

Freeborn This book takes the reader into a wonderful fantasy world. I enjoyed the book a great deal and read it cover to cover with only a few breaks between readings. I was too anxious to discover what happened to Freeborn and Tishamon next to be able to put the book down for long. The imagery and characters are magnificantly described. You feel like this “world” actually exists. I hope someday this becomes as popular as “Lord of the Rings.”
